This site is devoted to the study of velvet weaving, in all its rich detail. Its contents will address historical, practical, social, technical, economic, and aesthetic aspects, in all periods and diverse cultures in which velvet cloth was made and circulated. I hope that this site will serve as a useful repository not only for my own research but also for the research and experimentation of others with the same interest.
